Newport, R.I. - The No. 5 Bulldog coed sailing team currently sits in eighth place after 12 races have been completed in both A and B Divisions at the ICSA/Gill Coed Dinghy National Championships hosted by Brown, Salve Regina, and New York Yacht Club in Newport, R.I. No. 1 Boston College is currently leading the regatta followed by No. 2 Georgetown and No. 3 St. Mary's College of Maryland.
The Bulldog performance is led by the B Division performance of sophomore captain Thomas Barrows and senior crew Abigail Coplin. Barrows and Coplin, who won B Division at the 2007 ICSA/Gill Coed Dinghy National Championships, currently sit in fifth place with 97 points. The B Division duo have placed in the top three boats in four of the 12 races. Georgetown is currently winning B Division with 55 points.
In A Division, senior skipper Zachary Brown and junior crew Grace Becton are currently in 12th place with 123 points. Boston College is currently leading A Division with 67 points.
The Bulldogs currently have 220 points over the 12 races in each division. Boston College leads the regatta with 150 points.
Six more races in each division are planned for the final day of competition on Wednesday.
